PNW Events (Washington, Oregon, Western Canada)

On Saturday, March 7th, IFG will be holding a workshop run by the messer master himself, Gabriel Pottebaum! The workshop will replace our normal 2-4PM longsword slot and will be held at the Multnomah Arts Center outdoor basketball courts (like normal). To thank Gabe for offering his time for the workshop, donations are welcome via cash/paypal/venmo. All proceeds will go to Gabe.

Here’s a quick summary of the workshop:
Sinister Dexterity: Cross-Handed Fencing with the One-Handed Sword:
The vast majority of historical sources neglect the existence of left-handed fencers and the unique dynamics they impart on martial interactions. In this workshop we intend to explore these artifacts and how we can use them to be more holistic martial artists.

IMPORTANT: If you have a messer, arming sword, saber, dussack, or other single handed swords, please bring them. We will need as many as possible to help run the workshop.

If you want to expand your skill with unfamiliar timing, different fight styles, and build new friendships, this is the night.

Come spar with new partners, test what you’ve been building, and leave sharper than you came in.
Longsword, saber, rapier, and small sword all welcome.
If it’s steel, bring it.
All levels welcome.
